You Can Coach: A Practical Guide to Coaching in Everyday Life
Actress Celeste Holm famously observed, "We live by encouragement and die without it—slowly, sadly, and angrily." We can influence people's lives in many meaningful ways: as parents, friends, co-workers, or supervisors, but in recent years, professional coaching has proven to be one of the most effective ways to provide the encouragement people are dying (mostly figuratively—but sometimes literally) to receive.
Coaching is different from counseling and mentoring. Its purpose is three-fold:
  • Ask powerful questions
  • Listen intently
  • Help people discover the next steps to more success and fulfillment than they ever dreamed possible
In You Can Coach, Dr. Brenda C. Chand provides a wealth of information, insights, skills, and tools for coaches at every stage of their careers. Those who are only beginning to test the waters and explore the profession will gain a foundational understanding of the heart, skills, and process of coaching. Those who have launched their careers will be challenged to sharpen their skills, target their audiences, and excel even more. And those who are Master Coaches will use this book as a resource to equip the next generation of outstanding coaches.
Whether you want to gain some insights about helping your friends or you have a vision to become an instrumental resource in the C-suites of organizations, you'll find You Can Coach to be both inspiring and practical.
