The author is most celebrated for his 2009 fantasy novel, The Magicians, a coming-of-age tale about Quentin Coldwater, a teenage boy, who unexpectedly becomes a magician. The fantasy book quickly gained popularity because it not only introduces readers to new magical worlds but dives into earthly challenges like depression and a search for meaning that teens and young adults often grapple with. After the book's success, Grossman went on to write two more installments, The Magician King and The Magician's Land, that are now part of the series known as The Magicians Trilogy. Grossman worked as a journalist before becoming a full-time author. His debut novel, Warp, published in 1997, is a satirical take on the trials and tribulations many young people face after college graduation. Known for being a great storyteller and incorporating prose into his realist fantasy novels, Grossman's books are enjoyed by a diverse group of readers including teens and an adult audience.
