Chandragupta Maurya, also known as Sandrakotos or Sandrokotos in Greek, was the founder and first ruler of the Maurya dynasty and is credited with founding the first pan-Indian empire. He established a vast centralized empire with the help of his guru and later minister Chanakya or Kautilya, details of whose functioning, culture, army and economy are well preserved in Kautilya's Arthashastra. The Maurya dynasty was founded by Chandragupta Maurya in 322 BCE.
