Christina Soontornvat is an American author of many fiction and nonfiction books for young readers. She won Newbery Honors for her books, A Wish in the Dark, All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys' Soccer Team, and The Last Mapmaker. Soontornvat grew up in a small Texas town, where she spent many childhood days behind the counter of her parents' Thai restaurant with her nose in a book. She holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and has previously worked at a science museum. Her other books include The Diary of an Ice Princess series, The Tryout, and To Change a Planet. Christina Soontornvat lives in Austin, Texas.
