The structure encourages cognitive flexibility, exploration of alternative strategies or approaches to treatment and intervention, and self-directed learning. The first edition was published in 2000.
Purpose: The primary objective is to encourage student clinical reasoning. The book achieves this objective by providing diverse case scenarios that do not give a "correct" answer, forcing students to direct their learning and explore alternative strategies and methods.
Audience: The intended audience is occupational therapy students. However, this book also could be helpful for occupational therapists' professional development and for educators wishing to foster self-directed learning and clinical reasoning in their students. The authors' and contributors' wide-ranging perspectives and experiences are evident in the diverse case scenarios they provide.
